Project Period: March 2024 – Ongoing
With continued funding from Fondation Pierre Fabre (USD17000.00) in proud partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Development, Maxillo Facial Centre, Harare, Dermatology Laser Centre and Zimplats we have launched the Vikela Skin Cancer Screening Programme Phase 2. The life-saving medical outreaches are targeted at Bulawayo, Gokwe and Masvingo. Since the launch of Phase 2, the programme has successfully conducted screenings at:
Through these outreaches, the Vikela Programme not only addresses critical health risks but also empowers communities with knowledge on sun safety, early detection, and skin cancer prevention. Each outreach serves as a platform to strengthen local healthcare capacity, ensuring that health workers are equipped to provide ongoing care beyond the programme.
The Phase 2 initiative remains active, with plans to expand to more districts across Zimbabwe. Our commitment is to ensure that no individual, particularly those most vulnerable, faces the threat of skin cancer alone.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming outreach events and learn how you can support this vital initiative.
